I agree with much you have written here. I can’t help but wonder though, if attacking the woke university will just provide the external threat that will be used to solidify the solidarity within it. Nothing lubricates internal cooperation like an external threat.
I can’t help but think that this woke ideology is going to prove to be internally unstable. Eventually, some elite academics will seek status not by adapting to the culture, but by attacking and replacing it — like some kind of academic form of Kuhnian paradigm transition.
Longer term, it is the creation of competing universities which will enable consumers/students to vote with their feet and wallets. One thing that might help this transition is a focus on results and efficiency standards within any university getting any type of public aid or tax advantage. For example, qualifying universities must validate with entry and exit tests proving learning, AND the university must not have more than 10%? Of its costs in administration or whatever.
