Please have Joe G talk to the IRS. He described how government retirees now find all their forms pre-filled with the data that the government already has. I would LOVE to be able to log into my IRS page and find my forms likewise filled out with all the information, based on W-2s, 1099s, etc. If I have business income, then that would still need to be filled in, but for most Americans, ALL their income is reflected in documents that the IRS already has, so why should we have to duplicate all that, over a process of hours or days, hoping not to make any errors.
I would recommend that the IRS stipulate that by accepting their calculations, we certify that we did not have any sources of taxable income that are not reflected in the forms, and that we are willing to accept their calculations.
I will also note that with tax season coming up, if this were to be the last year that most Americans had to toil over their taxes, and Trump proudly claimed credit for fixing this for ALL Americans, I don't see how it could do anything but boost his popularity.
Why is no one announcing these accomplishments to the country? Have they tried to get the press to cover this?
