What repels me though is your and Peter’s gleeful celebration of the indiscriminate destruction of people’s lives, be they federal employees or starving children. It’s an affront to basic human decency and detrimental to US leadership around the world.

One note is that PT was pessimistic on improving cities. But consider NYC in 70s and 80s. People were ten times more pessimistic that even one tenth of Giuliani-Bloomberg era uplift could ever be accomplished, and they had good reason to be. And yet, despite that incredibly steep uphill battle, with tremendous skill and determination, they did it.
